I have been wanting to have this dish since I had heard about it. I happened to meet my upstairs neighbor who is from Mangalore when she needed some help with her cat. After meeting a few times, we bonded well especially over food and she invited me home for lunch one day. She had made the famous "kori rotti" for us 😋😋😋.
Finally, I got to taste this dish and it was just as amazing as I had heard. The crispness of the rotti with amazing juicy chicken gravy on top is simply mouth-watering delicious. I would definitely recommend everyone to try out this amazing recipe and let me know in the comments below how you find it. Enjoy 😊😊!!

for Rotti:
1. Roast the Masala: In a pan, dry roast the spices for 2 mins till you get a nice aroma from it. Set it aside and let it cool down. Once cooled add it to the mixi jar and add garlic, tamarind, turmeric and also coriander seeds and cumin (without roasting) and grind it into a fine powder. Set it aside.
2. Make Gravy: Heat some ghee in a kadai. Now, add mustard seeds, methi seeds, curry leaves and onion and cook till they turn brown. Add onions to this and once the onions are caramelized add the chicken and let it cook through (10 mins). Add ½ of the masala powder, thinned coconut milk and salt to this and mix well. Let it cook for another 10-15 mins. Now, add the rest of the masala powder and the thick coconut milk and cook for few more mins till the gravy thickens.
3. Add Tadka: In a tadka bowl add 1 spoon ghee, add rai, jeera, curry leaves and finely chopped onions and fry this till the onions are brown. Now add this to the chicken. Your chicken is ready to be served! but wait, you still need to make the rotti...
4. Make Rotti: Soak the rice and urad dal for 6-7 hrs and then grind it into a fine paste. In a dosa pan , spread some ghee/oil. Drop a ¼ cup of the batter and spread it thinly on the pan like a paper dosa. Once it's turned crisp remove it from the pan and set it on a plate and add the chicken curry on top of it and enjoy!
